Bilingual System – Spanish Curriculum with Bilingual Education in English
At International School Peniscola (ISP), we follow the Spanish educational system, with English as the language of instruction. To develop genuine linguistic proficiency, English is integrated into open and non-academic spaces beyond the classroom, such as playgrounds, dining areas, and shared spaces.
As in other stages of education at ISP, the Secondary programme is characterised by high English language immersion and personalised attention. More than 50% of curriculum subjects are taught in English, creating a bilingual environment that facilitates the integration of international students and promotes the natural use of English as a means of communication among peers.
As a private bilingual school, we offer our Secondary students the opportunity to refine their English language skills through various immersive educational experiences, such as international stays through the “English Integration Week”. In addition to English, Spanish, Valencian, and French complement the linguistic programme at this stage.
During Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), our students receive a solid humanistic, artistic, scientific, and technological education.
This is a decisive stage in which teachers and tutors work closely to ensure that students receive excellent academic preparation, allowing them to transition successfully to post-compulsory studies. Students are supported in consolidating their study habits, work ethic, perseverance, responsibility, and values such as respect, tolerance, solidarity, and dialogue.
Students are always at the centre of the educational process. Therefore, we base our approach on their interests and active, participatory, and collaborative methodologies that foster critical thinking and constructive reasoning.
At both school-wide and stage-specific levels, we implement sustainability and healthy lifestyle projects, enriching the educational experience and improving coexistence among students.

As part of this initiative, students attend university talks, visit educational fairs, and engage with alumni and professionals who provide valuable insights and advice to support informed decision-making about their future.
Effective communication between teachers, students, and families is a priority at ISP. To optimise the teaching and learning process, we use Alexia, a digital platform that integrates academic and administrative management, strengthens the school’s relationship with the educational community, and facilitates seamless communication through its various functions.
