Languages

International School Peniscola is a private bilingual school based on linguistic immersion in English. It offers a project based on the development of an authentic linguistic competence in which English is the key tool that allows students to thrive in a future that demands broad and effective skills in this language. In our project we progressively incorporate English from the age of 1 year, in more open, non-academic spaces, beyond the classroom.

Our students are highly immersed in English from the first year of kindergarten with 100% in the first ages, which facilitates the acquisition of this language with the naturalness of a native language. French is incorporated as a second foreign language from the second cycle of kindergarten onwards.

From a very early age, children take advantage of the opportunity to live in an environment of English language immersion, since their brain plasticity allows them to assimilate several languages intuitively and effortlessly. Numerous studies show that learning several languages during childhood and adolescence significantly improves cognitive skills, since brain sharpness is promoted, as well as a higher level of concentration and memory. In brief, a linguistic immersion environment contributes to the intellectual and personal development of students.

ISP is a private bilingual school with an innovative methodology that targets its actions to offer students from different educational stages an authentic immersion in English:

• Innovative projects are implemented to foster a natural and amusing assimilation of English as a Second Language.
• In Primary School, the curricular content of subjects such as Science and Arts & Crafts is developed entirely in English. In addition, daily English sessions are complemented with extra weekly sessions of Speaking, Reading and Movie Talk.
• In secondary education classes, fifty percent of the subjects are taught in English: Biology and Geology, History and Geography, Technology and Digitalization, Arts & Crafts and P.E. The daily English sessions are complemented by weekly sessions of Literature Circle, Movie Talk and preparation for official Cambridge exams.

As a way to complete the language program, our Primary and Compulsory Secondary Education (CSE) students have the opportunity to attend the English Integration Week program. Additionally, to complete the language program, our Primary and Secondary students have the option to participate in the English Integration Week program. This program includes national and international stays through our agreement with Sheffield Centre, a company with more than 35 years of experience in organizing language courses, homestays, international stays and summer camps. Therefore, students can experience the language in a unique way, combining language learning with the experience of a stay abroad or in a camp along with a wide variety of sporting activities.
