International School Peniscola is a private, bilingual, free and non-confessional school, whose purpose is to provide our students with the necessary tools and competencies to successfully face their personal, academic and professional future, in an atmosphere of affection, mutual respect and trust, taking into account their individual characteristics.
Our school offers the following educational stages:
International School Peñíscola uses the Spanish educational system with English as the vehicular language. This allows students to develop a high level of English proficiency while acquiring a solid grounding in the Spanish curriculum. This unique combination sets us apart from British or American schools, providing our students with the best of both educational models.
We developed the language learning pyramid, which allows all students to learn English with more dedication in the early stages and diminishing the hours once they have mastered it.
-Innovative projects are carried out in the pre-school stage that encourage the natural and fun assimilation of English.
During the last year of Infant Education, students begin to show the ability to communicate in English spontaneously, becoming proficient in the language.
– In Primary School, learning is done 50% in English, 50% in Spanish. French and Valencian are introduced as minority languages. The curricular content of subjects such as English, Natural & Social Science and Arts & Crafts is developed entirely in English. In addition, the daily English sessions are complemented with extra weekly sessions of Speaking, Reading, Movie Talk and Workshops.
Throughout the Primary Education stage, our students achieve linguistic competence and are able to function naturally in English.
– In Secondary, 50% of the subjects use English as a vehicular language: English, Biology and Geology, History and Geography, Technology and Digitalization, Arts & Crafts and Physical Education. The daily English sessions are extended with weekly sessions of Literature Circle, Movie Talk and preparation for official Cambridge exams.
In order to develop authentic linguistic competence, English is taught in more open spaces, beyond the classrooms, i.e., playgrounds, dining rooms and common areas. The bilingual environment at International School Peniscola facilitates the integration of international students and encourages the natural use of English as a language of communication among peers.
Our school is an Official Cambridge English Preparation Center and at each educational stage we test and prepare students to obtain the different official qualifications. The tests taken at the school are: YLE: Young Learners English (Starters, Movers, Flyers), KET (A2), PET (B1), FCE (First – B2), CAE (Advanced – C1) and CPE (Proficiency – C2). Students from all over the northern region of Castellón take their exams in our facilities.
We also offer the possibility for our students to live authentic language-related experiences such as stays abroad or language immersion camps with Sheffield Center.
The students of the center also incorporate French as a second foreign language in all stages from kindergarten onwards.
And all this, with a team of teachers, educators, administrative and service staff that provide a great emotional support, with values, also committed to the participation in solidarity and sustainable projects with the environment.
